Summer Community Involvement
May: Kids Chance of Missouri – Sponsored Joplin event where attendees mixed & mingled with WC industry professionals to create awareness for Kids Chance of Missouri! (Kids Chance of MO is a charity that provides scholarships for kids whose parents have been killed or seriously injured in work accidents). In the 2017-2018 school year, Kids Chance of Missouri issued almost $250,000 in scholarships to children of workers who have been seriously injured or killed in work-related accidents.
June: Fostering Hope – BWO became the victim of flocking when they donated to Fostering Hope. Fostering Hope exists to bring a community together to provide hope and support to the local foster care system. By partnering with local churches, businesses and organizations they aim to bring awareness by doing more together than apart.
July: BWO is an annual supporter of Newspaper in Education program. NIE is a Joplin Globe program that provides newspapers to area classrooms to be used as an educational resources to encourage literacy, connect students to their communities, help them develop a global perspective, and provide educators with powerful teaching tools to support and enhance the curriculum of the Joplin School District. We always enjoying receiving the Thank You cards made by the students who are the recipients of these wonderful gifts.
BWO loves the fact that we have employees that have worked with us in building an award-winning firm so we are happy when we can give back to their families. This Summer was dedicated to providing sponsorships to the local community that we love.
Nicole Carlton-Wagner’s son plays for a travel baseball team and BWO sponsored their team so they could travel and compete this summer. Good job Carthage All Stars!
BWO is proud to help the Carthage School District by providing funds for their Football Annual Program and sponsorship of the Tiger Pride Run.
On May 22 (anniversary date of the Joplin tornado), Carl Junction Missouri was hit by an F-3 tornado that caused major damage to trees and homes. BWO donated a gift basket for a silent auction to raise money to cover expenses for the Briarbrook Golf Course.
They raised $2,100 for that cause.
The Seneca Booster Club raised money this year for their school district and BWO provided needed funds and showed our support for the Seneca Indians.
